The previous version, effective August 2, 2021, is linked at the end of this policy.
Kiddie Kredit is a chore and financial-literacy app for families. It is operated by Leaping Harts, Inc. dba Kredit Academy ("Kredit Academy", "we" or "us").
This policy covers the Kiddie Kredit apps for iOS and Android, the portal that partner organizations use to assign tasks, and kiddiekredit.com. Together we call these the "Service". Kredit Quest, our product for teenagers, has its own privacy policy.
Kiddie Kredit is directed in part to children under thirteen, so we comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). A child cannot create an account. A parent creates the family account and adds each child. In this policy, "parent" includes a legal guardian.
You can reach us at Leaping Harts, Inc. dba Kredit Academy, 1111 Brickell Ave., 10th Floor, Miami, FL 33131. Call 855-5-KREDIT (855-557-3348) or email support@kreditacademy.com.
We collect information from parents, information parents give us about their children, and information created as a family uses the app. Children cannot make personal information public through the Service.
From parents
About your children, provided by you
Created as your family uses the app
From devices
We use that technical information only to authenticate users, keep network connections working, and protect the Service against fraud and misuse. It is never used for advertising, to contact or profile an individual, or for any other purpose. Our service providers may process it only on our instructions.
From partner organizations
We do not collect precise location, contacts, advertising identifiers or analytics about how you use the app. We never receive your full card number.
Kiddie Kredit 3.1 adds a few new features. Here is what each one keeps, so you know before you turn it on.
Score history. We keep a daily copy of each child's Kredit Score and the five parts that make it up, so the app can show how it changed. It is numbers and a date only, and each day's copy is deleted after 100 days.
Late and excused chores. We count how many chores a child finished late. When a grown-up excuses a missed chore, we keep that it was excused, by which grown-up, and when, for 100 days.
Chore categories. Each chore can have one of six categories, such as household or helping others. This is about the chore, not the child.
Borrowing. If you turn on borrowing for a child, we keep their borrowing limit, what they owe in Bamboo Bucks, when it is due, and whether each payment was on time. Payment dates are deleted after 100 days. Bamboo Bucks are not money, and nothing about borrowing is ever reported to a credit bureau.
Wishes. We count how many wishes a child has used, from 0 to 3.
Photo proof. Photos are off until you turn them on for a child. When you do, we keep a record of your consent: which grown-up turned it on, when, and which version of the notice they saw. With photo proof on, a child can add a photo of the chore area before they start, as well as after. Both photos are deleted on the schedule in the table below. Turning photo proof off deletes that child's photos at once. Photos are never in our backups.
Offers. If you turn on Offers for a child, they can suggest a chore and a reward, and you can say yes, no, or offer something else. We keep each offer exactly as it was made (up to 120 characters), who made it and when, so your family has a fair record of what was agreed. Offers are not changed or removed while the child is in your family.
The Money Meeting. We keep a record of each meeting: when it started and finished, each child's score before and after, the chores you reviewed, the payouts you ticked, the goal picked, and any note you write about a child (up to 500 characters). Only your family's grown-ups can read it. Your notes are never shared with anyone, never sent outside Kiddie Kredit, and never used for analytics. We also keep the day and time you choose for the meeting, so we can remind you.
Update notices. We keep the dates we emailed your family and sent a notification about updating to 3.1.
None of this is used for advertising, sold, or used to train AI models.
We use information only to provide the Service to your family and keep it secure.
We do not sell personal information collected through the app or portal, or share it with data brokers or advertising networks. The app shows no advertising. We do not use children's information for behavioral advertising or to build profiles.
We do not ask a child for more information than an activity reasonably needs.
We share information only in the ways this section describes. We never make children's information public, and we never sell it.
Within your family. Parents and guardians on your family account can see your children's information. Other families using Kiddie Kredit never see it.
Partner organizations, only with your separate consent. A parent can enroll a child with a partner organization, such as an after-school club, using that organization's join code. Staff at that organization can then see:
Organizations never receive your child's date of birth, rewards balance or exact score, your name or email address, or any activity outside their own tasks. Organizations agree to use what they see only to run their program, and to protect it at least as well as this policy does.
Enrolling is a separate consent, and it is optional. You can agree to our collecting and using your child's information without agreeing to share it with any organization.
You can end the sharing at any time by removing the organization in the app. That withdraws your consent and removes the organization's tasks from your child's list. Staff lose access to your child's information, including past tasks, the next time their portal loads.
A portal page already open may show old information until it refreshes. Staff can download a list of rewards they have fulfilled, and we cannot recall a list or photo once someone saves a copy. We keep a record that you withdrew consent, and when.
Service providers. These companies help us run the Service. They may use information only on our instructions, and must protect it at least as well as this policy does.
| Provider | What it does for us |
|---|---|
| Amazon Web Services | Hosting and storage |
| MongoDB Atlas | Database hosting |
| Auth0 | Sign-in |
| Apple and Google | Sign-in with an Apple or Google account, Family Plus purchases, and delivering notifications |
| Amazon Simple Email Service | Email we send you |
| Expo | Sending notifications through Apple's and Google's services |
| Payment provider | Will process money you add for gift-card rewards, once they launch. We will name it here first. |
| Gift-card partner | Will issue gift cards you fund, once they launch. We will name it here first, and it receives nothing today. |
The app contains no analytics, advertising, attribution or tracking software. Our website does use them, as described in "Our website and changes to this policy".
Legal, safety and business transfers. We may disclose information when the law or legal process requires it. We may also disclose it to protect a child's or anyone's safety, to protect the Service against fraud or security threats, or to enforce our Terms.
If Kredit Academy is acquired or merges with another company, information may transfer with the business. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Inside our company. Kiddie Kredit is part of Kredit Academy. To understand how families use borrowing, a daily summary of borrowed Bamboo Bucks and repayments goes to Kredit Academy's own internal systems, which run in our own cloud accounts. It uses coded ids in place of names, and it never includes Money Meeting notes, Offers, photos or score history.
When your child turns thirteen, their Kiddie Kredit account closes. We notify you thirty days before their thirteenth birthday and again seven days before. You can still see a snapshot of their progress until we delete their information, 90 days later.
Kredit Quest, our product for teenagers, is also run by Leaping Harts, Inc. dba Kredit Academy and has its own terms and privacy policy. Nothing from Kiddie Kredit passes to Kredit Quest. If we add a way to carry progress over, we will ask for your consent first.
We obtain verifiable parental consent before we collect, use or share a child's personal information. A child cannot create an account.
A parent creates the family account in their own name and accepts this policy. When you sign up, we verify that you are over 18 and your child's parent or guardian, and that verification stays with your profile. Only then can you add a child.
We record which version of this policy was accepted, by whom, and when, and you can see that record in the app.
Enrolling a child with a partner organization is a separate, explicit consent. It names the organization and what its staff will see, and you can withdraw it at any time.
You can withdraw any consent, or ask us to stop collecting your child's information, as described in "Your choices: review, export and delete".
Only a parent's account can buy Family Plus or add money for gift-card rewards. Children see Bamboo Bucks, not money, with one exception: if a parent sets a dollar value for Bamboo Bucks, the child's wallet shows that one dollar line.
Family Plus. Family Plus is an optional paid subscription, bought through Apple or Google. They process your payment under their own privacy policies and never give us your card details. They tell us about your subscription, such as the plan, whether it is active and when it renews.
Gift-card rewards. Gift-card rewards are not available yet. When they launch, you will add money with Apple Pay or a card handled by a payment provider, and a partner will issue the gift cards. We will name both in this policy first.
We will keep a record of each amount you add, each gift card bought, which child received it, and your rewards balance. The record includes the card brand, its last four digits, provider reference numbers and encrypted gift-card codes, never your full card number.
We collect and retain parental verification data, transaction history, and account balances to facilitate secure in-app reward generation, comply with children's online privacy and consumer protection regulations, and fulfill state unclaimed property reporting requirements.
If notifications are allowed on a device, including your child's, we store an identifier for that device so we can send them. We delete it when that device signs out.
Notifications can include a child's first name and text a parent typed, such as a note on a chore sent back for another try. Expo sends them for us through Apple's and Google's notification services, so their content passes through those companies. We use the identifier only to deliver notifications about your own family.
Each device's own settings decide whether notification text shows on a locked screen. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.
We keep children's information only as long as we need it for the purposes below. We never keep it indefinitely, and you can delete it sooner at any time.
| Information | Why we keep it | When we delete it |
|---|---|---|
| Chore photographs | So a parent can confirm a chore was done | Automatically, 30 days after it is uploaded |
| Children's names, dates of birth, avatars, reading settings and account identifiers | To run the family account and know when a child turns thirteen | 12 months after the family account becomes inactive, or 90 days after the child turns thirteen, whichever comes first |
| Chores, scores, streaks, badges, rewards and notes | To run chores and rewards and show progress | Same as the row above |
| Organization task records and consent records | To show task status to organizations you approve, and to record your consent | Same as the row above |
| Device identifiers | To deliver notifications | When the device signs out |
| Server logs, which contain account identifiers but no names or notes | To operate and secure the Service | 30 days |
| Parent name and email address | To run the family account and contact you | With the family account, except where kept in transaction records below |
| Parental verification data | To show that a parent gave verifiable consent | With the family account |
| Rewards balance | To run gift-card rewards | Seven days after you delete your account |
| Rewards-fund ledger and gift-card orders, with children's names removed | To facilitate secure in-app reward generation, comply with children's online privacy and consumer protection regulations, and fulfill state unclaimed property reporting requirements | 7 years after the transaction, or longer where unclaimed property law requires |
Daily score history | To show how a child's Kredit Score changed | Automatically, 100 days after each day, and when the child or family is deleted |
Excused chores | To show that a grown-up excused a missed chore, and who | Automatically, after 100 days, and when the family is deleted |
Borrowing limit and balance | So a child can borrow Bamboo Bucks and pay them back | When the child or family is deleted |
Borrowing payment dates | To show whether each payment was on time | Automatically, 100 days after each date, and when the child or family is deleted |
Photo proof consent record | To show which grown-up turned photo proof on, when, and which notice they saw | When the child or family is deleted |
Offers | To keep a fair record of what a child and a grown-up agreed | When the child or family is deleted |
Money Meeting records and notes | To show your family its past meetings | When the family is deleted. A child's part goes with that child |
Money Meeting day and time | To remind you of the meeting | When the family is deleted |
Update notice dates | So we tell each family about an update only once | When the family is deleted |
An account is inactive when no parent has signed in for 12 months. We email you 30 days before deleting an inactive account, and signing in keeps it. A child whose access is paused follows the same rules.
After the seven-day hold on a deletion, we purge the information from our systems. Copies in our database backups are gone within 12 months after that.
You can review, correct, export or delete your family's information at any time. You can also withdraw consent and stop us collecting your child's information.
Review and correct. You can see and correct your family's information in the app.
Export. From Privacy & data in the app, you can request a copy of everything we hold about your family. We email it to you.
Delete. You can delete a single child, or your whole family account, from Privacy & data in the app. The app asks you to confirm first.
We keep the rewards-fund ledger and gift-card orders for 7 years, or longer where unclaimed property law requires, with your child's name removed. Apple, Google and any payment provider keep their own records of purchases under their own policies.
Withdraw consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time. We will then stop collecting your child's information and delete it, and your child will no longer be able to use the Service.
Email and phone. Requests about your family's information are made from the parent account in the app, so we know they come from you. If you email or call us, we will point you to the right screen. If you cannot sign in, we will help you get back into your account first.
We follow a written information security policy that protects the confidentiality, security and integrity of children's information. We limit access to people who need it, and we release information only to providers and organizations that commit to protecting it.
No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access will never happen. If we learn that your information was accessed without authorization, we will notify you using the contact details on your account.

If you used the previous Kiddie Kredit app. Kiddie Kredit has been rebuilt, and nothing from the previous app carries over. Every family accepts this policy when they sign up. All information from the previous app, including copies held by the services it used, has been deleted.
